LUCID CHOCOLATIER

Aaron and Nicola Tomlin are qualified beekeepers who live and work on Homewood Farm. In a joint venture with Andy and Jan Tatham, they have developed a boutique honey business. They harvest Manuka and Raw Native Honey, mostly Kanuka, from the vast 650-hectare forest area on the farm. The honey is processed and packaged on the property and displayed at our retail store.

Nicola and Jan hold certifications in organic skincare formulation. They procure beeswax, honey, and botanical ingredients from the farm and create organic skincare items, sold under the brand name Homewood Botanicals.

HANDY WORK BY JOE HANSEN

Joe Hansen is a lovely resident on Homewood / Kaiwhata Road. He has turned his hand to crafting outdoor ornaments using recycled roofing iron. His iron angels are displayed for purchase in our garden. We feel they are an ideal tribute to the Homewood Storeroom's original function as a church.

In addition to his ironwork, Joe is also an avid hunter. He creates and sells keyrings crafted from cast deer antlers. These keyrings are the perfect size and unexpectedly lightweight, making them a sought-after item among our customers.

Crystals by Holly Bird of Soul Treasures NZ

Soul Treasures is a side hustle of our front of house wiz, Holly Bird. Holly loves to go rock hounding for crystals and stones near Riversdale Beach and on local walks with her dad and her dog, Dollar. She also sources pieces from various parts of New Zealand and overseas.

Holly has recently delved into rock tumbling and polishing. Her polished stones have been popular with those who know the areas from which the stones were sourced. Holly is very knowledgeable on varieties of stones she finds and happily shares this with interested customers.

Holly sells a varying range of crystals and stones through socials. Check out soul_treasuresnz to find out more.

HANDMADE JEWELLERY BY MARILYN GARTH,

MG DESIGNS

Marilyn Garth of MG Designs is located at Riversdale Beach. She works with precious stones, copper and recycled pipe to make jewellery from scratch in her home workshop.

Marilyn’s interest in precious stones initiated after joining the Rock and Mineral Club in Palmerston North. For nearly a year, she attended weekend classes at a workspace in Wellington, where her passion for the craft blossomed, and she honed her skills.

Marilyn has impressive techniques and equipment in her craft. Stone tumbling, polishing and cutting are just part of her jewellery making repertoire.

Marilyn sources stones from rock club and fossicking trips. She is inspired by nature and likes to think her jewellery reflects this. She hopes you enjoy wearing her pieces as much as she enjoys making them.

WOOD TURNING BY PETE GARTH

Pete is Marilyn’s husband. While she is busy crafting jewellery, he engages in his own artistic pursuits, making beautiful bespoke wooden bowls, platters and homewares. He works with various types of wood, mostly Macrocarpa, Totara and Rimu. The wood is sourced from different places, including scoring old Totara fence posts offered by local farmers.  Pete sometimes incorporates resin into his work to address imperfections in the wood, adding a touch of innovation and flair to his pieces.
